Bio
Lisa Horlander is a mixed media artist whose work explores visual spaces in-between and within. She includes unconventional materials to bring content to her work about moments in time, our impact on the environment, as well as connect shared experiences within a community.
Horlander is currently a Studio Artist and Founder of Inbetween Studios in Tyler, TX, as well as the host of her Podcast “Don’t Drink the Paint Water”. She was part of Cohort 2 with the Cedars Union in Dallas where she was both a Studio Artist as well as part of their Curatorial Committee. She participated in the Summer Residency Program at New York University in 2018. Horlander has exhibited her work spanning the US most recently with Chaos! 9 at Ro2 Art in Dallas, The Other Art Fair Dallas, the Janette Kennedy Gallery in Dallas, and The Tyler Museum of Art.

My work explores spaces in-between and within. The imagery in my work focuses on the natural ecosystems surviving within urban environments. I am interested in portraying the visual contours between tree branches and roots along with using colors from transitions in time like Dawn or Dusk. I use unconventional materials, such as the paper from used teabags, to bring content to my work about habitual moments, the impact of those items on the environment, as well as connect shared experiences within a community.
